IRON
ORE Iron (Fe) is a metallic element and composes about
5% of the Earth's crust. When pure it is a dark, silvery-gray
metal. It is a very reactive element and oxidizes (rusts) very
easily.
The mineral magnetite (Fe3O4) is a naturally occurring metallic
mineral that is occasionally found in sufficient quantities
to be an ore of iron.In Pakistan the province of Baluchistan
is considered to be basic mining area for iron ore with large
deposits found in the mountaneous regions of Noshki,Dalbandin,Chaghai
etc.Manganese coloring ability in minerals is well known and
appreciated
COPPER
ORE Copper is one of the basic chemical elements. In its
nearly pure state, copper is a reddish-orange metal known for
its high thermal and electrical conductivity. It is commonly
used to produce a wide variety of products, including electrical
wire, cooking pots and pans, pipes and tubes, automobile radiators,
and many others. In Pakistan the province of Baluchistan have
large deposits of copper ore which are mined and supplied to
the international market as per standards approved by the buyers
GRAPHITE
A soft, steel-gray to black, hexagonally crystallized allotrope
of carbon with a metallic luster and a greasy feel, used in
lead pencils, lubricants, paints, and coatings, that is fabricated
into a variety of forms such as molds, bricks, electrodes, crucibles,
and rocket nozzles. Also called black lead, plumbago. In Pakistan
grafite ore is found in large quantities in shape of lumps.Huge
reserves are located in the mountaneous region of NWFP in the
tribal belt of mohmand agency.
CHROMITE
Chromite is the most important ore of chromium from which it
derives its name. Chromium is an important metal and has a wide
range of industrial uses.Large deposits of chromite are found
in the northern areas of Pakistan.Hilly tracts of Gilgit, chitral, bisham
and adjoining parts are main source of obtaining chromite which
have the purity percentage according to the buyers in the international
market.
MANGANESE
The element manganese is an essential element in people's daily
food consumption and has several industrial uses. Manganese
is used in steel alloys to increase many favorable characteristics
such as strength, hardness and durability. In fact steel can
not be produced without manganese; it is an essential ingredient
in the process. Manganese is also used to color glass an amethyst
color.
KING
OF FRUITES (MANGOES)
Pakistan stands third among mangoes growing countries of the
World. Mango has a prominent position among the commercial fruits
of Pakistan. It enjoys second position after citrus fruit in
Pakistan. The Pakistani Mango is well known for its taste and
quality abroad. More than 54,000 tons of mangoes are exported
to Asian and European countries.
MANDARIN (KINOO)
The popular varieties grown in Punjab include oranges, Red Blood,
Mausami, Ruby Red , Jaffa , Fruiter, Malta, limes and lemons.
Approximately about 60 per cent of total citrus production is
comprised of mandarin, popularly known as 'Kinnow'. Quality
wise, 'Kinnow' is the most important variety.
ONION
Production zones/cropping pattern The major onion growing districts
are Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Sukkar, N. Feroze and Badin
in Sindh and in Punjab Kasur, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Vehari,
Khaneawal, D.G. Khan, and Jhang and in NWFP Swat and in Baluchistan
Mastung, Kalat, Chagai, Khuzdar and Turbat.
POTATOES
Presently, it is estimated that the total annual domestic production
amounts to around 1.8 Million MT, of which 280000 MT is used
as seed and 1.8 Million MT is available for consumption after
post harvest losses. With a population of roughly 132 Million,
this accounts to 9.3 Kg per Capita per annum.
NATURAL
SALT
Pakistan is one of the very few countries who has been bestowed
with all the three types of available salt in the world.Pakistan
is known for its famous salt range stretching from Kala Bagh
to Jhelum covering the districts of Mianwali, Chakwal and Jhelum
in the province of Punjab. In the province of N-W.F.P. Geological
surveys have determined the existence of 2.65 billion tons alone
in this area. Reserves at Bahadur Khel in district Kohat are
estimated to be 10.54 billion tons.
